GENERAL INFORMATION ........................... 1. Dataset title: T9/Trad RSVP Speller 2. Authors: Francisco Javier Vizcaíno Martín 3. Author contact information: Francisco Javier Vizcaíno Martín. fjvizcaino@uma.es METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION ................................. 1. Description of the methods for collection/generation of data: - The dataset has been generated from the electroencephalographic (EEG) signals of the participants in the experiments. EEG signals were amplified and recorded by an acti-CHamp amplifier by BrainVision (Brain Products GmbH, Gilching, Germany) using eight electrodes at positions Fz, Cz, Pz, Oz, P3, P4, PO7, and PO8, according to the 10/10 international system. All channels were referenced to the right mastoid and grounded to position AFz. Impedance was reduced to below 10 kΩ for each electrode with electrolyte gel. For collecting and processing data, BCI2000 3.0.5 software was used. BCI2000 was set up so the EEG data from the eight channels were recorded at a sample rate of 250 Hz. The sampled data were processed after a band-pass filter, with a cut-off low frequency at 0.1 Hz and a cut-off high frequency at 70 Hz, and a notch filter at 50 Hz for power line rejection noise. The primary data follow the BCI2000 format with extension *.dat. - The dataset was used for the paper: "A Rapid Serial Visual Presentation-BCI Speller Based on a T9 Keyboard: Preliminary Tests in Patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis" which is sendig for publication. 2. Data processing methods - The primary data follow the BCI2000 file format with extension *.dat. Using the P300Classifier tool within BCI2000, a stepwise linear discriminant analysis (SWLDA) of the data was performed. After that, data were statistical analysed using a spreadsheet (LibreOffice Calc 25.2.4.3) and sotware program for conducting statistics (JASP 19.0.3). 3. Software or instruments needed to interpret the data: - For data generation (*.dat) BCI2000 3.0.5 (https://bci2000.org/mediawiki/index.php/Main_Page) was used; for statistical data analysis JASP 19.0.3 (https://jasp-stats.org/) and LibreOffice Calc 25.2.4.3 (https://es.libreoffice.org/) were used. The features weights for the online phase were generated using the tool P300Classifier within BCI2000. 4. Standards and calibration information, if appropriate: Not apply 5. Environmental or experimental conditions: - The experiments were performed over 16 healthy participants and 2 patients. For healthy participants, the experiment was conducted in a controlled and isolated room. Equipment was set up on a table, and participants sat comfortably 60 cm from the screen where the stimuli were presented. For patients, the research staff took the entire experimental equipment needed to perform the test to the patients’ homes, so the disposition of the equipment had to be adapted to the patients’ condition and environment. FILE OVERVIEW ---------------------- The dataset include 4 files: T9_RSVP_eeg_BCI2000_Data_V01_20250725_FJVM.zip, T9_RSVP_performance_Calib_V01_20250725_FJVM.csv, T9_RSVP_performance_Online_V01_20250725_FJVM.csv, and T9_RSVP_questionnaire_V01_20250725_FJVM.csv. - T9_RSVP_eeg_BCI2000_Data_V01_20250725_FJVM.zip. Compressed folder (ZIP format) which include all registered data from the participants during the experiments. Once opened, you will access to the T9_RSVP_eeg_BCI2000_Data_V01_20250725_FJVM folder wich include four folders: Calibration_Data_Healthy_Participants, Calibration_Data_Patients, Online_Data_Healthy_Participants, and Online_Data_Patients. Each of these folders was organized in folders for each participants (16 folders for healthy participants, S1..S16, and 2 folders for patients, P1..P2). Each participants (healthy or patients) folder was divided into two folder, one for each experiment condition (T9 or Tra), and inside this last folder, the acquired EEG data (*.dat, BCI2000 data file format) from the participants are recorded. Calibration_Data_* correspond to the data from the calibration phase in the experiments, and Online_Data_* correspond to the writing process in the experiments. The Online_Data should be analysed by the tool P300Classifier from BCI2000 using the three Calibration_Data files as Load Training Data Files and the Online_Data file as Load Testing Data Files. - T9_RSVP_performance_Calib_V01_20250725_FJVM.csv. Spreadsheet of collected data resulting of the calibration phase of the experiments for each participants and condition. - T9_RSVP_performance_Online_V01_20250725_FJVM.csv. Spreadsheet of collected data resulting of the online phase (writing process) of the experiments for each participants and condition. - T9_RSVP_questionnaire_V01_20250725_FJVM.csv. Spreadsheet of collected data from the usability, workload and ad hoc questionnaries filled out by the participants after the experiments.
