Abstract

This contribution presents an step-by-step design and manufacturing of a spiral antenna with lateral feeding mainly for automotive applications. The spiral antenna is intended to work in Ultra-Wide Band (UWB), a new technology that enhances position, safety and security for connected vehicles using frequencies from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz. This radiating element has circular polarization and its radiation pattern reasonably remains constant throughout the band since it belongs to frequency independent antennas category. The prototype has been implemented using additive manufacturing, especifically a set of technologies including Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) and ink-jet printing. Measurement results are presented assesing the validity of the proposed antenna.
