Abstract

The transition from conventional power systems to smart grids is leading to a new generation of power networks which, among others characteristics, allows a more flexible demand consumption, and the efficient integration of renewable resources. MicroGrids (MGs) are a clear example of this trend. In this paper, a Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) implementation is proposed to address a decentralized operation of MGs. This Multi-Agent System is used to model the interaction among agents considering a market-oriented operation inside a MG. Agent's behavior is driven by specific optimization problems interacting among them through an original auction. Test results are presented for an illustrative MG and compared against those obtained within a centralized operation.
