Agua y sociedad rural en los montes de Málaga: sistemas hidráulicos en el hábitat disperso del s. XIX

Abstract

En un contexto social y académico de preocupación por la escasez de los recursos hídricos, y de interés por la conservación del patrimonio etnográfico, el artículo aborda la relación entre sociedad y agua en la montaña mediterránea, en el ámbito de los Montes de Málaga. Para ello, se ha analizado la relación entre los recursos hídricos existentes y los sistemas adoptados para su aprovechamiento en el hábitat disperso tradicional. Los recursos hídricos de los Montes de Málaga, más que escasos, están marcados por un fuerte contraste estacional y por un superávit creciente con la altitud. Con respecto a los sistemas hidráulicos, las estrategias de aprovisionamiento de agua (pozos y minas), conducción (canalizaciones de barro, atarjeas, alcubillas) y almacenamiento de agua (albercas y aljibes), indican la continuidad de los sistemas andalusíes, pese a los intensos cambios culturales y socioeconómicos ocurridos entre la instauración de aquellos y el contexto de este hábitat disperso (s. XIX-XX).

In a social and academic context of worry by the shortage of the water resources, and of interest by the conservation of the ethnographic patrimony, the paper studies the relation between society and water in the mediterranean mountain, concretely in Montes de Malaga. It has been analyzed the relation between water resources and the hydraulic systems employed in the traditional dispersed habitat. The water resources of Montes de Malaga, more than scarce, they are marked by a strong seasonal contrast and by a growing superavit with the altitude. With regard to the hydraulic systems, the water provisioning strategies (wells and mines), conduction (channelings of clay, atarjeas and alcubillas) and storage of water (albercas and aljibes) indicate the continuity of the andalusies systems, despite the intense socioeconomic and cultural changes occurred between the establishment of those and the context of this dispersed habitat (s. XIX-XX).
