Caracterización geográfica del valle del río Genal (Málaga) : relieve, clima y agua

Abstract

El valle del río Genal se localiza en la parte suroriental de la provincia de Málaga. En este estudio describimos las principales características de este área desde un punto de vista físico. La abrupta topografía crea diferencias microclimáticas debido a la diversidad de altitudes y orientaciones, influyendo también en la complejidad de la red hidrológica. Esta red depende, además, de la variedad de litologías que conforma el relieve. También se muestra un gradiente de las principales características climáticas a lo largo del valle.

The valley of the Genal river is located in the Southeastern part of the province of Málaga. In this study we describe the principal features of this area from a physical point of view. The steep topography creates microclimatic differences because of the diversity of altitudes and exposure as well as influencing the complexity of the hydrologic network. Moreover, this network depends on the variety of lithologies that constitute the relief. A gradient of the main climatic characteristics along the valley is also shown.
