Las fiestas marineras en los siglos XIX y XX : entre la afirmación identitaria y la "desposesión"

Abstract

Olvidadas por la literatura científica, el objeto del presente trabajo es el estudio de las fiestas marineras en el largo período de tiempo que se extiende entre los años finales de los siglos XVIII y XX. Unos años durante los que siguieron un proceso complejo, debido, en unos casos, a la imposición de las mismas por parte de las autoridades, y, en otros, a la “apropiación” de las tradicionales fiestas marineras por parte de grupos sociales ajenos a la gente de la mar, que con el paso del tiempo se vieron “desposeídos” de ellas. Con el fin de desvelar dicho proceso, en las páginas que siguen se analizará la tipología de las fiestas, sus formas, sus ritos y sus funciones, así como las permanencias y los momentos de cambios que afectaron a tales manifestaciones socioculturales.

Forgotten by the scientific literature, the object of the present work is the study of the sailor parties in the long period of time that extends between the final years of the 18th and 20th centuries. Some years during which followed a complex process, had to, in some cases, to the imposition of the same by part of the authorities, and, in others, to the “appropriation” of the traditional sailor parties by part of extraneous social groups to the people of the sea, that with the step of the time saw “desposeídos” of them. With the end to shed light on said process, in the pages that follow will analyse the typology of the parties, his forms, his rites and his functions, as well as the permanences and the moments of changes that affected to such social and cultural demonstrations.
