Abstract

La ingente inversión en investigación científica y técnica realizada en la España del siglo XVIII generó una serie de instrumentos burocráticos de control para garantizar la rentabilidad de tales recursos. Las instrucciones a viajeros y espías, las medidas de contraespionaje, la detección de disfunciones interinstitucionales y los exhaustivos informes y comprobaciones son el objeto de estudio de esta investigación.

The enormous investment on scientific and technical research carried out in eighteenthcentury Spain developed a series of bureaucratic measures of control designed to ensure the profitability of such resources. It is the purpose of the present essay to examine the instructions to travellers and spies, counterespionage procedures, the detection of interinstitutional dysfunctions and the exhaustive reports and checking processes.
