La organización del espacio agrario en la comarca malagueña de la Axarquía

Abstract

En este trabajo vamos a analizar la evolución del espacio agrario de la comarca de la Axarquía en el último cuarto del siglo XX, momento en que se aprecia claramente un importante retroceso de la superficie cultivada y una reorganización de los usos agrarios, dejando la comarca de responder a una lógica económica basada prioritariamente en la actividad agraria. Analizaremos la evolución experimentada por los dos grandes sistemas de cultivos -secano y regadío- y sus resultados económicos, puesto que ha sido la mermada capacidad de generar ingresos de los primeros, una de las razones explicativas de su difícil situación frente a la competencia de otros usos alternativos, frente a los segundos cuyos resultados económicos han permitido la supervivencia de la actividad agrícola, eso sí, cada vez más amenazada por la disminución de los márgenes de ganancia y por las tentaciones de la venta para urbanización de las tierrasIn this paper the evolution of the agricultural area of the Axarquia district during the last quarter of the past century is discussed. Over the period studied can be observed some reorganization, the retreat from agricultural activity, and diminish of the area, which previously was cultivated. This process causes changes of the economic situation of Axarquia region, based before on agriculture. For analysis presented in this paper two types of cultivation systems have been studied: rainfed and irrigated crops, and also their economic performance. The study shows clearly that from the point of view or economy, the second system is much more attractive, what implies competitive difficulties for the first cultivation system. Because of that the agricultural activity, if any, bases mainly on the second type of cultivation, however, nowdays even that one is diminished and there is growing sale threatening of the land for urbanization.
