L’opuscolo De Fico Super Laurentii Vallensis Caput Expositio di Escobar: studio di fonti.

Abstract

Cristóbal Escobar included a commentary, called De fico super Laurentii Vallensis caput expositio which is dedicated to the IV chapter of Valla’s Elegantie first book. This commentary is one of the opuscola contained in his edition to Introductiones Latinae by his mentor Antonio de Nebrija. In order to defend his point of view, Escobar uses a number of literary sources, among classical and modern authors. The sources are generally explicit throughout the text, but there are also two sources that aren’t expressed: they are Nebrija’s commentary in his grammary and the commentary in Perotti’s Cornu Copiae. Therefore, this article aims to introduce the analysis of the explicit and not explicit literary sources available in this pamphlet.
