El dibujo como herramienta de interpretación e intervención paisajística en la obra de Rosa Barba

Abstract

Defensora de la arquitectura del paisaje y el paisajismo como herramientas fundamentales en la renovación del urbanismo a finales del siglo xx, la arquitecta Rosa Barba, impulsó y modernizó la disciplina paisajística en España. Sus trabajos constituyen aportaciones relevantes y pioneras en la proyectación y transformación del paisaje que aún hoy mantienen su vigencia. En todos ellos, la arquitecta se sirvió del dibujo como instrumento científico a partir del cual desvelar la identidad del lugar y sus potencialidades, pero también como herramienta creativa capaz de desencadenar la activación del proyecto. Este artículo tiene como objetivo profundizar a través del análisis de algunos de sus principales trabajos en la posición teórica y disciplinar desde la que se aproximó a la cuestión paisajística y exploró la posibilidad de renovar los modelos e instrumentos conceptuales, técnicos y de representación gráfica con los que acometer su análisis, transformación y proyectación.

A champion of landscape architecture and landscaping as fundamental tools in the renewal of urban planning at the end of the 20th century, architect Rosa Barba both promoted and modernised the discipline of landscape architecture in Spain. Her works constitute relevant, pioneering contributions to the design and transformation of the landscape that are still relevant today. In all of these the architect employed drawing not only as a scientific instrument through which the identity of a place and its potential could be revealed, but also as a creative tool that could trigger the start-up of a project. The aim of this article is to use an examination of some of her principal works to further explore the theoretical and disciplinary position from which she approached the landscape question and explored the possibility of renewing the conceptual, technical and graphic representation models and instruments with which to undertake the analysis, transformation and design of the same.
