Abstract

As part of the coursework within the optative subject “William Shakespeare y el Teatro Renacentista”, taught in the final year of the degree in English Studies at the University of Málaga, students were asked to compile a glossary (using the tools available for this in the institution’s Virtual Campus) containing either original words created by Shakespeare or other vocabulary they might find challenging in the texts read in the subject. Shakespeare coined around 1700 original words, and many of these were found to be difficult to understand or interpret contextually by some students. As a result, the glossary proved to be an interesting and useful tool to both challenge participants and to help other students understand the Bard’s language.
