El consumo de frutas es esencial para una dieta equilibrada, y la creciente demanda de alimentos está impulsando estrategias para mejorar la producción y calidad nutricional de las frutas. Los plasmodesmos son cruciales para el transporte de nutrientes entre las células vegetales. Sin embargo, hay poco conocimiento sobre cómo se regula el transporte simplástico mediante plasmodesmos. Este artículo revisa la información actual sobre los plasmodesmos y su papel en el desarrollo de los órganos de las frutas, así como las preguntas sobre el proceso de descarga del floema que podrían ayudar a mejorar la calidad de las frutas.
