Abstract
Los signos que los escribanos públicos estampaban al final de los documentos que
validaban representan, junto a la firma y la rúbrica, el rasgo externo definidor del carácter de
instrumento público de una escritura. Cada escribano tenía su signo personal que en general
solía presentar una configuración parecida aunque con ciertos rasgos, a veces pequeños matices,
que los diferenciaban.
The signs stamped by the public notaries, at the end of validated documents, represented, close to the signature and the rubric, the external feature defining public character of a writing instrument. Every notary had his own sign generally used to provide a similar configuration but with certain traits, sometimes few nuances that made them different.
