Abstract

Within the emerging field of renewable energies, our country is pioneer in wind energy and it is relatively well placed in the solar energy ranking (both photovoltaic and csp). Other potential source of renewable energy which is virtually ignored in our country is the ocean (tidal surf) and also obtainable from the ocean currents. In this document, ocean currents as a renewable energy source in the Gibraltar Strait are studied. They must be intense, permanent and unidirectional to be profitable, therefore, we have found the places that satisfy those characteristics for installing a turbines.
