Aproximación a la Nueva Babilonia de Constant

Abstract

El artista holandés Constant Nieuwenhuys, recientemente fallecido, dio forma material a las propuestas de la Internacional Situacionista sobre el urbanismo del futuro con su ciudad utópica, New Babylon. Durante casi veinte años, su proyecto se desarrolló a través de maquetas, dibujos, grabados, collages, etc., así como en una serie de ensayos. En este artículo repasamos las claves de New Babylon y sus relaciones con la crítica urbana situacionista.The Dutch artist Constant Nieuwenhuys, recently deceased, gave substance to the proposals of the International Situationist for the future urbanism through his utopian city, New Babylon. For almost twenty years, his project developed through maquettes, drawings, engravings, collages, etc., as well as several essays. This article revises the key elements of New Babylon and its connections with the situationist urban criticism.
