Vínculos y censuras contra el andaluz en los diccionarios del español de América.

Abstract

El objetivo fundamental de este trabajo es aportar evidencia lexicográfica que sirva de apoyo a la tesis andalucista del español de América, patente especialmente en la representación del fonetismo. No se obvia la naturaleza de los datos aportados por diccionarios del siglo xix, en una época marcada claramente no sólo por la aplicación del criterio diferencial, con el registro de los provincialismos, sino también, y aquí es donde más se incide, por el prescriptivismo, que toma como modelo la variedad castellana, constatable según la etiquetación del americanismo como un defecto. Esta visión de la lexicografía cuenta con antecedentes y consecuentes, de ahí que se pueda ampliar los márgenes de análisis a los siglos inmediatamente anterior y posterior al Ochocientos. No obstante, la investigación quedaría incompleta si no se añadiera, a los vínculos entre la Andalucía y la América lingüísticas, la censura de los “vicios de dicción” que según los diccionaristas llevaron consigo los hablantes meridionales del español peninsular en el periodo a partir del Descubrimiento, de manera que viene a considerarse la región como “causa de los males” padecidos por el léxico del continente. Por último, se atiende a la reclamación, por parte de los lexicógrafos americanos, de un diccionario de andalucismos que sirva, a su juicio, para inclinar definitivamente la balanza a favor de la tesis andalucista.

The main objective of this work is to provide lexicographical evidence to support the Andalusian thesis of American Spanish. The nature of the data provided by 19th century dictionaries cannot be ignored, in a period clearly marked not only by the application of the differential criterion, with the recording of provincialisms, but also, and this is where the greatest impact is made, by prescriptivism, which takes the Castilian variety as a model, ascertainable according to the labelling of Americanism as a defect. This view of lexicography has antecedents and consequences, which is why it is possible to extend the scope of analysis to the centuries immediately before and after the eighteenth century. However, the research would be incomplete without adding, to the links between linguistic Andalusia and America, the censure of the “vicios de dicción” which, according to the lexicographers, the southern speakers of peninsular Spanish brought with them in the period after the Discovery, so that the region is considered to be the cause of all the ills suffered by the lexicon of the continent. Lastly, it deals with the claim made by American lexicographers for a dictionary of Andalusianisms which, in their opinion, would serve to definitively tip the balance in favour of Andalusian influence.
