RT Conference Proceedings T1 Laser ionization mass spectrometry is not the poor man`s ICPMS A1 Vadillo-Pérez, José Miguel A1 Medina, Samara A1 Laserna-Vázquez, José Javier K1 Espectroscopía de láser AB Laser ionization mass spectrometry includes in a broad sense, any laser-based technique capable of generating ions by the direct action of a pulsed laser over a solid sample. Over a certain laser energy, LIMS allows the direct generation of atomic ions without solvents, sample pretreatment or any other time-consuming issues. Thus, what LIBS is to atomic spectrometry, LIMS should be to mass spectrometry. However, atomic mass spectrometry seems to be exclusively taken by LA-ICPMS or GD-MS. Is there any reason for that? The talk will try to analyze strengths and weaknesses to put into the right context the technique.
