RT Conference Proceedings T1 Advanced traction control sytem for motorbikes A1 Castillo-Aguilar, Juan Jesús A1 Cabrera-Carrillo, Juan Antonio K1 Motocicletas AB Traction control systems are a fundamental active safetyequipment of vehicles; they control wheel slip when excessivetorque is applied on driving wheels, helping the driver to bringthe vehicle under control and improving handling and stabilitywhen starting or accelerating and especially under poor orslippery road conditions. The aim of this work is to develop aparameter estimation block for further development of anintelligent traction control system. To evaluate the performanceof the proposed estimation algorithm, estimated variables arecompared making use of BikeSim 2.0 ®. Parameter estimationwas performed using an extended Kalman filter optimizedusing genetic algorithms. Using an artificial neural network, theslip that maximizes the tire-road friction coefficient isidentified.
