RT Dissertation/Thesis T1 Electrospun Functional Nanofibers for Antimicrobial Applications in Air Filtration and Wound Dressing A1 Calzado-Delgado, María del Mar K1 Materiales nanoestructurados -- Tesis doctorales K1 Vehículos de medicamentos -- Tesis doctorales K1 Medicamentos -- Administración -- Tesis doctorales AB The design of several materials with functional properties was suitably obtained, combining some of them, the electrospray and electrospinning technique, and giving better antibacterial and filtering properties. The synthesis of composite nanofibers, covering the surface of the fibres with MOF materials, proved their efficacy in being used as a carrier for different drugs. The release of active ingredients over time was suitable and linear in most cases, being all biocompatible and great candidates for biomedical applications. All these materials were synthesized using a novel and versatile x-y-z electrospinning equipment, whose design, implementation and optimization were thoroughly described and explained in the present thesis.
