RT Conference Proceedings T1 Study of the stress intensity factors in the bulk of the material with synchrotron diffraction A1 López-Crespo, Pablo A1 Vázquez Peralta, Javier A1 Simpson, C A1 Moreno-Morales, María Belén A1 Buslaps, T A1 Withers, Philip J. K1 Estrés (Fisiología) AB In this work we present the results of a hybrid experimental andanalytical approach for estimating the stress intensity factor. It uses theelastic strains within the bulk obtained by synchrotron X-ray diffractiondata. The stress intensity factor is calculated using a multi-point overdeterministicmethod where the number of experimental data points ishigher than the number of unknowns describing the elastic fieldsurrounding the crack-tip. The tool is tested on X-ray strainmeasurements collected on a bainitic steel. In contrast to surfacetechniques the approach provides insights into the crack tip mechanicsdeep within the sample.
