RT Conference Proceedings T1 Evaluating the potential trade-off between students’ satisfaction and school performance using multiobjective programming A1 González-Gallardo, Sandra A1 Marcenaro-Gutiérrez, Óscar David A1 Luque-Gallego, Mariano K1 Programación matemática AB In this article, we carry out a combined econometric and multiobjectiveanalysis using data from a representative sample of Andalusianschools. In particular, four econometric models are estimated in whichthe students’ academic performance (scores in math and reading, andpercentage of students reaching a certain threshold in both subjects, respectively) are regressed against the satisfaction of students with differentaspects of the teaching-learning process. From these estimates, four objective functions are defined which must simultaneously maximized.A set of constraints is obtained by analyzing dependencies betweenexplanatory variables. This multiobjective programming modelis intended to measure the students’ academic performance as a functionof the students’ satisfaction. To solve the this problem, we use thereference point methodology together with the compromise programming, which allows generating several Pareto optimal solutions representativefrom the Pareto optimal front. In general, the results showthe importance of promoting respect and closer interaction betweenstudents and teachers, as a way to increase the average performance ofthe students and the proportion above a certain threshold.
