The choice to build three-phase power systems made multiphase machines unable to make a direct connection to the network, and the development of high-performance multiphase electric drives was still not feasible in those early days. It was not until 1969 when the first proposal of a multiphase drive was recorded [1], but little attention was paid to this field in the subsequent three decades. Although some basic foundations of multiphase electric drives were established in the 1990s [2], the number of studies during the 20th century was very scarce [3] PB IEEE YR 2022 FD 2022-12 LK https://hdl.handle.net/10630/37296 UL https://hdl.handle.net/10630/37296 LA eng NO M.
