T1 First isolation of Photobacterium damselae ssp. damselae from cultured redbanded seabream, Pagrus auriga Valenciennes, in Spain

AB This is the first report of the isolation ofP. damselae ssp. damselae from redbanded seabream,a sparid fish newly cultured in southern Spain. Alow variability in the biochemical profile among theP. damselae ssp. damselae isolates tested wasobserved (acetoine production), although theseprofiles were clearly different from that ofP. damselae ssp. piscicida. The analysis of ureCand 16S rRNA genes confirmed the phenotypiccharacterization of the isolates as P. damselae ssp.damselae.
