RT Conference Proceedings T1 Método Basado en Multilateración para Geolocalización y Sincronización en Redes UMTS A1 García-Fernández, Juan Antonio A1 Jurado-Navas, Antonio A1 Fernández-Navarro, Mariano A1 Úbeda, Carlos K1 Comunicaciones vía satélite AB In this work, a method in order to jointly estimatethe position of the different User Equipments (UEs) and theRelative Time Differences (RTDs) between base stations in UMTSnetworks is proposed. This method is based on the hyperbolicmultilateration technique defined from the Time Differencesof Arrival (TDOAs) and the resolution of a nonlinear systemof equations. A comparative study between two well-knowniterative algorithms, Gauss-Newton and Levenberg-Marquardt,is obtained by employing real data collected from drive testsin urban and sub-urban areas. The accuracy of the obtainedresults is mainly related to multipath errors associated with themeasurements carried out by UEs, and with errors introduced bythe numerical method. By considering that, it can be concludedthat Levenberg-Marquardt gives better results, providing fasterconvergence, higher accuracy and more robustness, provided thatits parameters are properly optimized.
