AB Este artículo analiza la evolución de la Iglesia Católica en Málaga durante los años dedictadura franquista. Con ese fin, se estudian las políticas emprendidas por esta organizacióndurante esos años. Así se muestran, por un lado, los intentos de la Iglesia Católica por ampliarsu ya amplio poder en la ciudad; y por otro, los momentos de fricción que esto generó entrelas relaciones Iglesia y Estado y el distanciamiento progresivo de la Iglesia en los últimos añosdel régimen de Franco. Todo ello enmarcado en el contexto nacional y comparado con lasaportaciones que la historia local española ha realizado sobre este tema.
AB This article analyses the evolution of the Catholic Church in Malaga during the years ofthe Franco regime. It also studies the politics it carried out during this period. Thus, we willexamine, on the one hand, the Church’s attempt to expand its extensive power base in thecity, and on the other hand, the friction which this created between Church and State and theprogressive separation of the Church during the last years of the dictatorship. All this occurs ina national context and is set against the comparative example of other regional cities that localhistorians have provided.
