RT Generic T1 An Analysis of the Presence of Literature in The Simpsons T2 Análisis de la presencia de la literatura en Los Simpson A1 Díaz Moreno, Laura Carmen K1 Intertextualidad K1 Simpsons, The K1 Literatura inglesa - Estudio y enseñanza AB The highly-acclaimed American TV show known as The Simpsons hasbecome a referent in the development of several studies related to a variety ofdisciplines. Notwithstanding, little attention has been devoted to the impact of literatureon this program. The central issue addressed in this paper, then, is the way in whichliterature is frequently presented within these cartoons. Given this orientation, it will beconvenient to explain the concept of intertextuality together with the different ways inwhich this notion normally operates within the series. Special attention will be paid tothree canonical authors, namely Mark Twain, William Shakespeare and Edgar AllanPoe. A major trait will be given to the classic works Hamlet and “The Raven” byShakespeare and Poe, respectively.
