AB La eclosión de cofradías disciplinantes en la España de la Edad Moderna se constata alo largo del Quinientos. El misticismo popular y el fervor creciente por la Pasión de Cristo,recala en numerosos núcleos poblacionales de la Monarquía, sobre todo en aquellos donde losfranciscanos fundan convento, siendo la Orden uno de los principales patrocinadores de talesprácticas. Muchas fueron las voces alzadas contra este tipo de penitencia, hasta su definitivaabolición por el absolutismo ilustrado de Carlos III, en 1777. En Antequera la oposición a lastumultuosas exhibiciones de dolor datan desde el Jueves Santo de 1593, cuando el vicario dela Iglesia Colegial, don Diego de Escalona, a través del brazo secular suspende la procesiónprogramada por la Cofradía de la Santa Vera Cruz y Sangre de Jesucristo, arrebatando a losnazarenos sus túnicas e increpándoles con duras palabras si persistían en su intento de desfilarpor la calles de la ciudad. Las causas y consecuencias de este suceso serán objeto de estudio enel presente trabajo, con especial atención a su repercusión en el ideario colectivo.
AB The appearance of the brotherhoods of disciplinantes in the Spain of the Modern Ageis stated to long it del Five hundred. The popular mysticism and the increasing fervour bythe Passion of Christ, saturate in numerous population centers of the Monarchy, mainly onthose where the franciscanos found convent, being Order one of the main patronages of suchpractices. Many were the voices raised against this type of penance, until their definitiveabolition by illustrated absolutism of Carlos III, in 1777. In Antequera the opposition to thesetumults exhibitions of pain dates from Saint Thursday 1593, when the vicar of the Schoolboy,don Diego de Escalona, through the secular arm suspends to the procession programmed bythe Brotherhood of Santa Vera Cross and Blood of Jesus Christ, snatching to the nazarenostheir dresses and insulting to them with hard words if they persisted in his attempt to marchpast by the streets of the city. The causes and consequences of this event will be object of studyin the present work, with special attention to their repercussion in the collective-mentality.
