RT Journal Article T1 Corrections in numerical methodology to evaluate plasticity induced crack closure along the thickness. A1 García-Manrique-Ocaña, José Manuel A1 Camas-Peña, Daniel A1 Parrón-Rubio, María Eugenia A1 González-Herrera, Antonio K1 Método de los elementos finitos K1 Materiales - Fatiga K1 Mecánica de fractura AB The influence of the three-dimensional effects of the distribution of the stress intensity factor in the numericalcalculation of plasticity-induced crack closure is analysed in this paper. The usual methodology assumes a constantdistribution of K along the thickness to obtain the effective stress intensity factor of the crack. This assumptionshould not be transposed to models that intend to observe phenomena in the crack front vicinity, where 3-Deffects are a key aspect in the results. Through numerical simulations of both fracture and fatigue of throughthickness straight cracks (CT specimen in mode I), the local opening and closure moment of each crack node isobtained and compared with previous one. Corrections are proposed for numerical methodology to obtain Kopand Kcl distribution along the thickness PB Elsevier YR 2018 FD 2018-08-15 LK https://hdl.handle.net/10630/28934 UL https://hdl.handle.net/10630/28934 LA eng NO Garcia-Manrique, J., Camas, D., Parrón-Rubio, M.E., Gonzalez-Herrera, A., Corrections in numerical methodology to evaluate plasticity induced crack closure along the thickness.
