RT Journal Article T1 Here they come: multiple new records of Indo-Pacific alien Mollusca in Tunisia A1 Antit, Mouna A1 Gofas, Serge K1 Ecología marina K1 Biología marina K1 Moluscos K1 Especies exóticas invasoras K1 Calentamiento global K1 Túnez AB Recent collecting along the Tunisian coastrevealed the occurrence of many species of alien Mollusca, all of which had been reported in the past decadesfrom the Levantine Sea. Baseline explorations ofthe Gulf of Gabès in 1982 and in the 2000s revealedthat only a handful of species were then present. Thenew sampling in the Gulf of Gabès shows high incrementsof alien species associated to an algal bottomnearshore, in which non-indigenous species represent22% of the total species identified but 70% of the totalof individuals. This late arrival is interpreted as theconsequence of progressive adaptation of the nonindigenousspecies to their novel environment whichis progressively warming.
