RT Conference Proceedings T1 La(III), Cd(II) and Ni(II) biosorption using algae residue A1 Zhang, Y. A1 Ballesteros-Plata, Daniel A1 Vincent, Thierrie A1 Rodríguez-Castellón, Enrique A1 Guibal, Eric K1 Agua - Contaminación K1 Metales pesados K1 Algas AB Brown algae have the capacity to accumulate metal ions, thanks mainly to the alginate present in the cell wall containing functional groups (hydroxyl, carboxyl, amines, etc.) [2]. During the extraction of bio-stimulants from algal biomass a residue is produced; the algae residue is currently poorly valorized. In this study, the residue issued from the treatment of brown algae Laminaria digitata was used for the biosorption of La3+, Cd2+ and Ni2+ from aqueous solution (single vs. binary metal solutions).
