AB En los momentos actuales, los cementerios se han constituido en espaciosmultifuncionales, en los que al inicial uso inhumatorio se ha sumado el social y cultural,determinado por sus características y valores patrimoniales, tanto tangibles comointangibles. La reciente llegada de la pandemia de COVID afectó gravemente a variosaspectos de la sociedad y, entre ellos, los cementerios, amenazados en los primerosmomentos por la sospecha de constituir lugares de contagio. En este artículo se analizael carácter social de las costumbres funerarias, las actividades culturales realizadas encementerios y su afectación por la pandemia, así como las diversas medidas adoptadaspara limitar o eliminar el riesgo.

NO Currently, cemeteries have become multifunctional spaces, in whichsocial and cultural use has been added to the initial burial use, determined by theircharacteristics and patrimonial values, both tangible and intangible. The recentarrival of the COVID pandemic seriously affected various aspects of society, includingcemeteries, which were threatened at first on suspicion of being places of contagion.This article analyzes the social nature of funeral customs, cultural activities carriedout in cemeteries and their impact by the pandemic, as well as the various measuresadopted to limit or eliminate the risk.
