T1 Las plataformas travertínicas y tobáceas de la provincia de Málaga (España).

AB Travertinos y tobas son tipos de roca sobre las cuales no existen, aún, numerosos estudiosen profundidad en la ciencia española actual. Advertimos las diferentes fuentes y discusioneshistóricas que subyacen a este tema, analizando clasificaciones y tipologías. Por otra parte,ejemplificamos el estudio de los travertinos y las tobas a partir de la gran variedad de ellos enla provincia de Málaga, para luego centrarnos en los más destacados, como los del entorno dela Serranía de Ronda, la Sierra de Mijas, o la Tejeda-Almijara. A partir de esta descripción,resaltamos que plataformas tobáceas y travertínicas destacan, además de por sus morfologías especiales y sus rasgos interesantes, por la evidencia de servir como importante recurso natural para las zonas que lo poseen: algunos de los lugares identificados comenzaron su poblamiento sobre estas litologías aprovechando dicho recurso; por tanto, en muchos casos poseen un potencial económico elevado
AB Travertines and tufs are few types of rock on which numerous studies do not exist, still, indepth in the current spanish science. We warn the different sources and historical discussionsthat sublie to this topic, analyzing classifications and tipologies. On the other hand, we exemplifythe study of travertines and tufas from the great variety of them in the province of Malaga, thento centre on the most out-standing, as those of the environment of Serrania de Ronda, Sierrade Mijas, or Sierra Tejeda-Almijara. From this description, we highlight that tobaceous andtravertinic platforms stand out, besides for its special morphologies and its interesting features,for the evidence of serving as important natural resource for the lands that possess it: some ofthe identified places began its population on these lithologies taking advantage of the abovementioned resource; therefore, in many cases they possess an economic high potential.
