RT Journal Article T1 An assisted navigation method for telepresence robots A1 Meléndez-Fernández, Francisco A1 Galindo-Andrades, Cipriano A1 González-Jiménez, Antonio Javier K1 Robots autónomos AB Telepresence robots have emerged as a new means of interaction in remoteenvironments. However, the use of such robots is still limited due to safetyand usability issues when operating in human-like environments. This work addressesthese issues by enhancing the robot navigation through a collaborativecontrol method that assists the user to negotiate obstacles. The method has beenimplemented in a commercial telepresence robot and a user study has been conductedin order to test the suitability of our approach.
