Catastrophizing, anxiety and painrelated fear have been identified as important mediators of pain and disability (4,5,6). Thefear-avoidance model (FAM) (7) is a relevant theoretical approach, which postulates apathway between these pain responses, physical disuse and chronic pain (8).
