AB A circuit property of symmetrical lattice networksis derived and applied to the analysis of symmetrical twoportelectromagnetic structures. This property is related to theindependence of the power dissipation in the series and cross impedancesof the lattice network and the consequent independencein the power dissipated under even and odd excitation in the twoportstructure. Its utility is illustrated with its application to aplanar radiating element, the so-called complementary strip-slot.This property allows identifying the cause of the losses in theanalysed example and explains the radiation origin.
