The synthesis of composite nanofibers, covering the surface of the fibres with MOF materials, proved their efficacy in being used as a carrier for different drugs. The release of active ingredients over time was suitable and linear in most cases, being all biocompatible and great candidates for biomedical applications. All these materials were synthesized using a novel and versatile x-y-z electrospinning equipment, whose design, implementation and optimization were thoroughly described and explained in the present thesis.</subfield>
