It highlights the importance of focusing education on students' learning. It also claims that students should achieve certain skills in a self-study process supported by their teachers. This approach demands that students reflect upon and self-assess their learning. It therefore requires that research is conducted on new technologies that require a greater involvement of students in their own education. The technologies require a higher commitment from students regarding their own assessment. eRubric evaluation is part of this conception of technology-enhanced learning and formative assessment. It is an evaluation method, a technique and an assessment management tool to support self-regulation of the learning process.
