The recent arrival of the COVID pandemic seriously affected various aspects of society, including cemeteries, which were threatened at first on suspicion of being places of contagion. This article analyzes the social nature of funeral customs, cultural activities carried out in cemeteries and their impact by the pandemic, as well as the various measures adopted to limit or eliminate the risk. https://www.revista-rio.org/index.php/revista_rio/about#openAccessPolicy En los momentos actuales, los cementerios se han constituido en espacios multifuncionales, en los que al inicial uso inhumatorio se ha sumado el social y cultural, determinado por sus características y valores patrimoniales, tanto tangibles como intangibles. La reciente llegada de la pandemia de COVID afectó gravemente a varios aspectos de la sociedad y, entre ellos, los cementerios, amenazados en los primeros momentos por la sospecha de constituir lugares de contagio.
