"Utilitas rei publicae" : la "libertas" en el "Agricola" de Tácito

Agricola constituye un manifiesto político que responde a las ideas de un grupo partidario
de Nerva y Trajano y opuesto, desde la moderatio, a los Flavios. En este contexto, la libertas
pertenece al Senado y consiste en libertad de expresión. La concordia es el fundamento de la
superioridad romana frente a los pueblos sometidos. Julio Agricola es un ejemplo, al igual que
Nerva, de cómo hacer política bajo los tiranos teniendo el servicio al estado romano como el
principal objetivo.
Agricola constitutes a political speech in response to the ideas of a group partial to Nerva
and Trajano and, from the moderatio, opposed to the Flavian dinasty. In this context, the libertas
belongs to the Senate and consists of freedom of speech. The concordia is the foundation of the
Roman superiority towards conquered peoples. Julio Agricola is an example, like Nerva is, of
how to do politics under tyrants with the service to the Roman state as the principal target.
