Introduction: Late preterm infants are infants born at a gestational age between 34+0 and 36+6 weeks. On account of their lack of maturation these newborns are involved in a greater number of complications and healthcare demand than those term infants. In the Maternal and Child Hospital of Malaga, a protocol has been implemented to improve the follow-up of these newborns (pre-discharge information leaflet on the most frequent complications, revision at 48-72 hours in primary care and according to their criteria weekly follow-up until the first month). It is intended to evaluate the completion of the protocol and the barriers that have interfered in the development of the protocol. Methods: Observational study by telephone semi structured interview between the first and second month of life to the parents of late preterm born between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017. Results: 206/279 (73.84%) were surveyed. 33% had received the informative leaflet and 100% of them understood it. 76.7% of the respondents had been checked after 48-72 hours of discharge. The highest level of satisfaction of the protocol has been 9.8/10 in those parents who had a complete follow-up (leaflet and check) and the least valued was a 7.27/10 of those who did not receive a check in 48-72 hours. Conclusion: It is necessary to reinforce the delivery of information prior to discharge, there has been a good acceptance by pediatricians of primary care to the check and the degree of satisfaction is greater in the parents who have received the information.
