The use of Big Data is a global challenge. This paper will analyse the relationship between Big Data and Health and, in particular, the most recent reports produced by UNESCO and APEC on this point. There is not a uniform regulation about Big Data , and the consequences of this lack of uniformity motivates that International Organizations have assumed a leading role on the topic. A good example of this tendency is the report on Big Data and Health published last month of September by the International Bioethics Committee of UNESCO (Doc. SHS/YES/IBC-24/17/3 REV.2). As a preliminary conclusion, it should be noted that universal IO’s (UNESCO, WHO), together with regional actors (Council of Europe, OECD, EU, African Union and Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) have examined in detail the consequences of the use of Big Data and Health. This paper will be focused on the analysis of the most controversial aspects studied by some of the aforementioned Organizations (paying special attention to UNESCO and APEC activities). The pros and cons of the use of Big Data in health-related questions will be one of the main aspects to be considered . This is one of the consequences and the dilemmas related to the use of technology, the need to protect personal data together with recent abuses on this field.
