This presentation aims to undertake an empirical study so as to provide some information about the audience of a film forum held in Benalmádena, a village located in the Spanish Coast of the Sun. The forum’s name is “Cine Club Más Madera”. It provides the opportunity to watch subtitled films on a weekly basis. The overall purpose of the work is to shed some light on both the audience’s profile and the audience’s opinion about subtitling as an alternative way of watching foreign films in a dubbing country such as Spain. The study is carried out through a survey where the main interest points concern features like the audience’s origin, age, competence in foreign languages, educational background, habits when watching foreign films and opinion about subtitling.
