In the first decade of the 20th century Jacques Lipchitz was a young man recently arrived in Paris. With no formal academic training, he was fascinated by the advances in cubist painting. His interest and efforts would centre around the creation of a true cubist sculpture which owed nothing to the movement in painting of the same name
