Among the several enlightened newspapers published in Málaga throughout the eighteenth
century, a city that boasted at least four different titles during that period, the Semanario de
Málaga, a journal that appeared every two weeks for a period of about five years, stands
out because of its longevity. It is the purpose of the present essay to examine its scientific
and technical contents, bearing in mind that its publications were considered to be articles
of “introductory learning”, which was quite typical in most newspapers of the period.
