Abstract
En este estudio se reivindica la figura de Juan Agustín Cean-Bermudez como estudioso de
la escultura antigua, a través de su obra más conocida: las Antigüedades Romanas. Con ello se
pretende mostrar al lector el grado de conocimiento que se poseía en España sobre esta materia
en el primer tercio del siglo XIX.
In this study figure Juan’s Agustín Cean-Bermudez is claimed like studious of the old sculpture, through its good known work: the Roman Antiques. With it is sought to show it to the reader the degree of knowledge that was possessed in Spain on this matter in the first third of the XIX century.
