Abstract

This paper reviews altemative formal definitions of the concept of explicit knowledge, with the goal of unravelling the central notions that different logical approaches employ. The meanings of these notions are classified, explaining how their differences might change the logical outcome. Then, the paper proposes an abstract framework where the most suitable notions come together, with the aim of shedding some light on their underlying theoretical foundations, and also of clarifying their relationship.
