Abstract

Brown algae have the capacity to accumulate metal ions, thanks mainly to the alginate present in the cell wall containing functional groups (hydroxyl, carboxyl, amines, etc.) [2]. During the extraction of bio-stimulants from algal biomass a residue is produced; the algae residue is currently poorly valorized. In this study, the residue issued from the treatment of brown algae Laminaria digitata was used for the biosorption of La3+, Cd2+ and Ni2+ from aqueous solution (single vs. binary metal solutions).
