El Trapiche del Prado : un establecimiento preindustrial en la Marbella del Antiguo Régimen

Abstract

En el presente artículo nos ocupamos de la industria azucarera en Marbella a través del estudio del Trapiche del Prado. Este establecimiento construido en el siglo XVII perteneció a la Inquisición que lo explotó en régimen de arrendamiento. La comparación de los actuales restos materiales con la función de los espacios descritos en la documentación del siglo XVIII relativa al mantenimiento del edificio permite establecer la primitiva morfología del establecimiento en relación al proceso de la fabricación de azúcar en la etapa preindustrial y la evolución de la tecnología empleada.In the present article we deal with the sugar industry in Marbella across the study of the “Trapiche del Prado”. This establishment constructed in the 17th century belonged to the Inquisición that exploited it in regime of lease. The comparison of the current material remains with the function of the spaces described in the documentation of the 18th century relative to the maintenance of the building allows to establish the primitive morphology of the establishment in relation to the process of the sugar manufacture in the preindustrial stage and the evolution of the used technology.
